Sincere thanks are given to all ETH-employees who nominated their supervisors for the Golden Tricycle Award. We were pleased about the many distinguished nominations which have reached us in 2011. Therefore it was not easy but nevertheless a pleasure to assign a winner.

The Golden Tricycle is an accolade awarded to team leaders who enable their team members to reconcile work and family life. The award was launched in 2007 by the Academic Association of Scientific Staff at ETH Zurich, AVETH, and the Office of Equal Opportunities. The award winner is announced at the annual Christmas gathering of the Executive Board of ETH Zurich

Team leaders who follow a family-friendly policy may be nominated for the Golden Tricycle award by their team members. Details on the next award will be published shortly before the beginning of the fall semester. Staff members then get the chance to nominate his or her supervisor by sending a suggestion as well as the motivation to goldenes_dreirad@aveth.ethz.ch.
The nominations saying how he or she creates a family-friendly environment will be handed to a jury that will choose according to criteria such as working hours, organization, management and personal attitude. The jury consists of one former member of the executive board of ETH Zurich, a representative of the Hochschulversammlung, Human resources, the Office for Equal Opportunities, and AVETH. The initiator of the label for family-friendly policies at EMPA completes the jury.
